Overnight Adventures and Expeditions

Silver / Gold Expedition Training
Whoosh explore have been running expeditions as a club since 2009 and much longer than that as instructors for outdoor education in Hertfordshire. We now run expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

We will be offering all the necessary training in both the paddling skills and expedition skills. It is expected that people will attend all the sessions in order that a satisfactory level of competence is achieved.
The first expedition will be to North Wales in April for canoe training and then go back to Wales in early July for the final expeditions. We will be travelling to Wales via minibus and trailer and camping near to Ironbridge on the River Severn and Glassbury for trips on the River Wye.

Expedition Supervision
DofE expeditions at all levels involve travelling and camping without the direct supervision of Staff/Adults. The candidates will be operating in a group as near to independently as possible. The Training and practice expeditions leads to this- but on a final expedition the candidates should be planning and running their expeditions on thier own.

Expeditions are remotely supervised and groups will be undertaking the Journey unsupported. Supervisors monitor the group but paddlers are required to undertake all activities independently.

River Severn Canoeing Residential
In 2012 Whoosh explore will be running canoe expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
We will be offering all the necessary training in both the paddling skills and expedition skills. It is expected that people will attend all the sessions in order that a satisfactory level of competence is achieved.
Expeditions by canoe offer a very special way to see the countryside and open a number of exciting possibilities for the purpose of the expedition. They also offer a chance to complete a demanding expedition for people who, for what ever reason, could not complete a walking expedition.

PLEASE NOTE

DofE Expeditions, at all levels, involve travelling and camping without the direct supervision of staff. The candidates will be operating, in a group, as near to independently as is possible. The training and practice expeditions lead up to this – but on the final expeditions, the candidates should be running their expeditions on their own.

Please get in touch with me if you have any questions, would like further information or to book a place.
