Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions

We help with training for Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions. We work with Scouts and guides and youth groups in Hertfordshire and Essex with expeditions at Bronze Silver and Gold as well as help young people gain the award through undertaking paddling sessions through the physical skills section of the award.
We run training sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday evening for local groups and support individuals and groups across the country with practice and Assessed expeditions. We are able to provide all the equipment you require to complete your expedition by canoe.
Young people really enjoy the challenge of learning new skills and taking part in adventures that they have planned and organised as part of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
We organise Bronze Silver and Gold expedition training and final expeditions. We work closely with award leaders and local school groups and young people and groups wanting either training or expeditions either as an individual or as part of a group.
Bronze Expeditions
Our Bronze Expeditions typically take place on Local rivers and Canals on the River Stort, River Lea and Riverss Stour and Great Ouse as these are near to or Hertfordsshire base. We work with groups to develop paddling skills during the expedition training and offer swimming pool sessions at Great Dunmow pool to get groups water confident as well as introduce skills in capsize and rescue and boat management. Sessions are open to individuals and groups.

Silver Expeditions
Our silver expeditions take place on the Rivers Thame Wye and Great Ouse or we can work with groups to expore different suitable rivers near to home.We introduce some moving water skills into the training as well as looking at developing skills like canoe sailing, bushcraft and elements of wild camping on our Silver expeditions. We aim to deliver expeditions which challenge the group at Silver and look to use camping islands and small riverside campsites which offer the group the chance to escape with a sense of adventure

Gold Expeditions
Gold expeditions are offered on the river Thames, Wye and Scotland this year. At Gold we look for groups to take a fully active role in planning their expedition, We work the group as a team to develop the expeditions and give advice on the best locations for planning an expedition. We look for the initiative to come from the team. We work with Individuals and groups so that they are able to plan the expedition fully independently so the benefit fully from the challenge. We can help groups train and offer courses to help groups learn the skills of paddling from flat water paddling upto skills required for running whitewater rapids. in canoes and kayaks.Training can be undertaken at the olympic white water centre nearby as well as on local lakes and rivers.

Bronze expeditions start at £65 per day per person
