Holiday paddling 2014

Our paddling sessions in 2014 included paddling weekend on the River Severn and River Wye and River Stour  and Rivers Lea and River Stort

Our trip on the River Severn was a great success where we trained with 4th east Barnet Scouts who worked on skills for a Gold Expedition. The group faced challenging conditions and heavy rain over the first two days of their expedition, where the pace of the river rapid swept them downstream. for the leaders we arranged some great riverside camping  within easy reach of public houses ideal for food and refreshment after some challenging paddling on the river.
Our next expedition at Gold lead us backup to Wales and the scenic river Wye  where we spent an enjoyable weeks paddling in open boats supporting young people on Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions down the entire length of the River, with stops at Symonds yat and a finishing point at Monmouth.
In April we paddled the River Stort camping at Redricks Lake followed by a paddle on the River Lee and then finally a paddle on the River Stour where we had some great weekends of paddling supporting the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh  expeditions with Sawbridgeworth and High Wych rangers
In September we headed back onto the River Stour for our annual  Sudbury to the Sea Event where each year over 300 paddlers head off downstream to paddle towards Catterwade and the Sea.
we are now looking forward to starting off fresh challenges in 2015 and are looking for new creeks to dip our paddle blades into.
