River Cam

We paddle on the River Cam each summer from Grantchester to the Colleges on the Backs where we compete with the punts and tourists for a while before heading back along the tranquil River Granta to Byrons Pool. We meet at Grantchester and paddle into town and on to the Backs of Cambridge, up to the First Lock on the River. This trip will be a there and back paddle, as long or short as you like, stopping for a picnic at Grantchester Meadows on route or paddling all the way through Cambridge to experience the City from a new perspective and see all of the colleges from the Backs.with a break near the Cambridge Lido for lunch.
The River Cam or Granta as it is known before it enters Cambridge is a beautiful stretch of river. We start our river trail just outside Grantchester and paddle in towards Cambridge where we mingle with punts in the centre of the Cambridge. Travelling by canoe is the wonderful way to see the local countryside from a different perspective and is a fun way to spend a day in the summer. Paddle from Grantchester to Cambridge meadows and Byrons Pool.
Starting at 10.00am for full day paddling for approx 3.5 hours paddling time on the river.
Meeting at River bridge near to Orchard tea rooms in Grantchester with parking at Byrons pool or the Village car park (in field).
Nearest point is Orchard tea rooms 45-47 Mill Way, Grantchester, Cambridge CB3 9ND

Each canoe will take two people plus food or snacks for the journey (additional seating can be added for a small person.)
Our route takes us through the Grantchester meadows which are great for picnics, the river is also home to a river swimming club so we may see swimmers and punts that have made their way up from Cambridge.
Please be aware that there will be some lifting and moving boats onto and off of the canoe trailers and we will require some assistance from paddlers with this as we deliver the session.
