Canoe Hire on River Stort

1. Paddling from Bishops Stortford (Start of Navigation)
Bishops Stortford to Sawbridgeworth (2-3 hours) or Harlow Mill, or paddle to our base near Harlow Town. Visit Thorley Wash Sculpture Trail run by Middlesex, Herts and Essex Wildlife trust or picnic at Pishobury Park in Sawbridgeworth on route finishing at Redricks Lakes.

2. Twyford Mill Lock No. 2 (2 miles) Pig Lane. Great for exploring either Bishops Stortford or Sawbridgeworth. Public car park next to Twyford Mill. A downstream paddle to Redricks lakes will take about 3-4 hours.

3. Spellbrook lock No.3 (3 miles) Spellbrook lane. Paddle to Bishops Stortford or Sawbridgeworth with Pubs and Restaurants nearby. The three horse shoes pub offers a great place to start or end your paddle with a meal or a pint in this family friendly restaurant. A paddle of about 2.5 to 3 hours to Redricks Lakes

4. Sawbridgeworth lock No 5. (5 miles)- Sawbridgeworth maltings with Antique centre, tea rooms and shed cafe which has great teas coffees and cakes at the weekend, Sawbridgeworth station has good links to Cambridge and Liverpool Street, London. Plan a route back to Bishops Stortford or paddle towards Roydon Mill or Broxbourne and get back by train. paddle upstream from Redricks lakes in about 2 hours, or a there and return trip 3.5 hours

5.Harlow mill Lock no.8 (6.5 miles)
Enjoy a meal at the Beefeater Resturant or paddle to or base near Harlow mill station (8.8 miles) and catch a train back to Bishops Stortford or head down stream to Roydom mill Staton (11.6 miles) and explore the Stort Valley Sculpture trail tour.
