Paddling sessions
Our paddling sessions are normally from Reedings Meadow Reedings Way, or from 
Twyford Lock at Pig Lane CM227PA on request. Starter paddling sessions take place on Saturday Mornings, other times available on request.  

2.5 hour paddling sessions 
Paddle from Pig Lane Twyford Lock Bishops Stortford downstream to Tednambury lock, from this point you can either paddle back to Bishops Stortford for a two and a half hour paddle, or continue downstream towards our Paddling Base at Reedings Meadow which is about a 3.5 hour paddle and suitable for a day trip. We can paddle with you or can offer a self guided paddling session, ideal for more experienced paddlers and club members.

Paddles from Twyford Lock 
Paddle upstream from Pig Lane through Southmill Lock and onwards towards Bishops Stortford and the head of the Navigation at Sworders Field. Enjoy a visit to the Port Jackson Public house before returning downstream on your river tour.

Paddles from Reedings Meadow 
Paddle upstream from Reedings Meadow to Sawbridgeworth Maltings where there are restaurants, tea rooms and antique shops through Pishobury Park which is ideal for a picnics, then return back to Harlow Mill Lock and Harlow Mill Beefeater Restaurant which has a pleasant beer garden to take a refreshing drink after your paddle. 

Paddling Downstream from Reedings Meadow
Enjoy a 2.5 hour  paddle downstream from Reedings Meadow to The Moor Hen Restaurant between Latton Lock and Burnt Mill lock for a Pub lunch or enjoy a longer 3 hour paddle to Pardon Mill Lock, Sculpture trail and Gallery or visit Hunsdon Mead Nature Reserve just past Hunsdon Mill Lock for a picnic.

Paddling down the Stort and up the Lee
Enjoy a paddle from Reedings Meadow to Stanstead Abbots for a day paddle through the Harlow Sculpture park, available Saturdays and Sundays. 

Reedings Meadow
Reedings Meadow is a great location to start a paddle or take a trip from or have a picnic after your paddle. Why not enjoy a family picnic in the field or by the lriver to complete your adventure.

The River Stort is a Navigation from Bishops Stortford and can be paddled from Sworders Field to the River Lea and onwards to Thames and on to the Sea a trip of .
The Stort can be paddled from a range of locations. We can arrange to meet you at Bishops Stortford, Sawbridgeworth or Harlow mill to start your trip.

Places to visit on Route

Rushy Meads Nature Reserve 1/2 mile from South Mill Lock.
A short way downstream is Spellbrook Lock and a Public house just a short distance up from the lock (past the Level crossing)

Pishobury park is a great place to stop for a picnic with lots or Rare Breeds Cattle roaming the park a short paddle south of Sawbridgeworth Lock. .
Pishobury park started off life a s a medieval deer park and can be easily reached from the Stort Navigation by footpath. 

Sawbridgeworth Marshes is a 23 acre spring feed wetland that is one of the best examples of local wetland habitat which is fast disappearing due to land drainage and modern farming practices and development along the river. It contains rare insects and plants including orchids and birds including snipe, cuckoo, Reed, Sedge and Grasshopper walblers. Sawbridgeworth marsh is jointly owned by the Herts Middlesex and Essex Wildlife Trusts. The reserve can be found a short walk from the river at Sawbidgeworth.
