Stort Valley Canoe Trips.

Take a paddle tour on the River Stort, We provide the boats, you provide the adventure. Enjoy a relaxing paddle on the river with Whoosh Explore to a riverside pub, or make time for a picnic and enjoy a peaceful paddle on the river.

Our Paddling sessions start at Reedings Meadow on the River Stort based between Sawbridgeworth Lock and Tednamebury Lock  A typical morning paddle offers the opportunity to paddle on a route downstream to Latton lock to develop paddling skills and get used to the canoe or kayak, a distance of about 1/2 a mile down and back from our base. This short paddle gives an opportunity to try out boats and develop paddling techniques before heading Downstream to Harlow Mill about a mile upstream. Here there is an opportunity to explore some of the natural backwaters and weirs that control the Navigation river levels. At Harlow Mill there is a Beefeater Restaurant and Bar, which offers paddlers an opportunity for a drink or bar mill with Picnic benches and Outdoor dining areas overlooking the Mill pool, River and Lock. This is an ideal first paddling trip and ideal for families with younger children looking to have a first paddling experience of about 2.5 hours.

An extended trip upstream to Feakes lock involves a portage around Harlow mill lock and is about an additional 40 minutes paddling through countryside and reed beds upstream. Feakes lock is a great place for a break in the journey for a snack or even a picnic - well away from the town of Harlow and Sawbridgeworth. Paddling time between 2.5 hours and 3 Hours

For a full days adventure it is possible to paddle to Sawbridgeworth through Sheering Mill Lock to a choice of Tea rooms and Cafes Based at Sawbridgeworth Maltings. about 3 hours to 4 hours paddle, but allow time for a lunchbreak or picnic on route.
The River Stort Navigation opened in 1758 but remains one of Hertfordshires best kept secrets, it is a great place for paddle advenures through unspoiled British countryside.
